2017 Cyber Threats: Ransomware

Page Content

With the recent surge in Cyber Attacks, how do you know if you are secure?

We want you to be aware of the latest, and most dangerous cyber threats out there, starting with Ransomware.

What is it?

Ransomware is vicious malware that locks users out of their devices or blocks admittance to documents until a sum of money or ransom is paid. (Hence, “Ransomware”) These attacks are not subjective; they hit PC’s, MAC’s, and even your mobile device- causing downtime, data loss, and possible intellectual property theft.

How does this happen?

Through social engineering attacks, in which the user is duped into clicking on a link or attachment, or by simply using an infected USB drive. The malware then encrypts all data files, and blocks the user from accessing files.
